HomeIn South Dakota, Minnesota, and most other states, all restaurants and food service establishments are required to have a certified food manager on staff.

To become a Certified Professional Food Manager (CPFM), you can take our online preparation course and then take a proctored exam.
If you are currently a CPFM in Minnesota or South Dakota and need to recertify, you don't need to take the proctored exam - you can study completely online to fulfill the state's requirements.

Our Certified Food Manager course has been written to the FDA food code and will help you study and prepare for any of the three ANSI/CFP approved CPFM exams.

Our preparation course covers the following topics:
  1. Foodborne IllnessSD Certified Food Managers
  2. Time, Temperature & Microorganisms
  3. The Flow of Food & Cross Contamination
  4. Equipment & Utensils
  5. Hygiene & Food Safety
  6. Facility Management
  7. Risk Management
  8. Regulatory Requirements
  9. Training and Responsibilities

Course features include video, audio, animations, flash cards, and quizzes to help you learn and review. Our interactive course is rated at 8 hours. It is also self-paced, so it may take more or less time based on your knowledge of the material.

Once you have completed the course, you will receive information about where you can take an approved exam.  There may be additional exam fees that are not included in the cost of our course.
